Why Infrared Sauna?

Firefighter Decontamination

Within an hour of a fire or live fire training, Huntley firefighters complete a gross decontamination at the scene, return to the firehouse for a shower, hit the sauna, then take another shower. Madsen said that before the extensive decontamination process was instituted, you could smell products of combustion at the firehouse. Now it’s rarely noticeable.

Cardiovascular Benefits

As infrared heat penetrates more deeply than warmed air, users develop a more vigorous sweat at a lower temperature than they would in traditional saunas. The cardiovascular demand imparted by thermoregulatory homeostasis (sweating, vasodilation, decreased afterload, increased heart rate, increased cardiac output) is similar to that achieved by walking at a moderate pace.

Joint Pain Reduction

Both RA and AS patients felt comfortable on average during and especially after treatment. In the RA and AS patients, pain, stiffness, and fatigue also showed clinical improvements during the 4-week treatment period. Infrared treatment has statistically significant short-term beneficial effects and clinically relevant period effects during treatment in RA and AS patients without enhancing disease activity. IR has good tolerability and no adverse effects.

Headache Relief

“Saunas, unlike pills which only mask pain, actually deal with the pain source. The heat of a sauna can have the same effect on body chemicals released by stress as a workout. Longtime daily headache sufferers who took three 20-minute saunas a week for two months reported that the intensity of their headache pain was reduced by more than 40 percent.” -Dr.Kanji

What Our Clients Have to Say

Spencer L.

As a wildland and structure firefighter I like using the infrared sauna after returning home. After a 2 week tour to wildland fires I’d smell like smoke for days, now I just do a few sessions and sweat it out. It just helps my body purge those toxins.

Sam B.

I love a good detox. The Infrared Sauna helps me relax and rejuvenate when I’ve had a long day at the office. Thanks Summit Spa!
